Lead Designer

The Lead Designer will oversee all digital design aspects of the journal to create a visually compelling presentation of the journal that will be disseminated in both digital and print media. The Lead Designer will work with other editorial board members to build a consistent and professional brand for the journal. The Lead Designer will also serve on the executive board for the URJ Student Organization. The expected time commitment is approximately 5 hours a week. Stipend of $200 will be given to the Lead Designer for the entire year. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Format and design a visually appealing PDF/print format of the journal
  • Attend and contribute to regular editorial board meetings
  • Create a consistent theme for the entire publication in coordination with any promotional materials
    Serve as editor for digital media submissions

Qualifications:

  • Experience in graphic design and strong skills with Adobe Suite and/or other preferred design software
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Full-time enrollment as an undergraduate student for the 2025/26 academic year

Social Media Coordinator

The Social Media Coordinator will work with other board members to lead efforts in promoting the publication through social media and other digital platforms. The Social Media Coordinator will also serve on the executive board for the URJ Student Organization. The expected time commitment is approximately 5 hours a week.

Responsibilities: 

  • Attend and contribute to regular editorial board meetings
  • Design visually appealing graphics to be used on social media
  • Manage all social media accounts
  • Create a consistent theme for the promotional materials in coordination with the publication
  • Coordinate with the Podcast Director on marketing for the podcast

Qualifications:

  • Experience in graphic design
    Strong skills with Canva and/or other preferred design software
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Full-time enrollment as an undergraduate student for the 2025/26 academic year

Podcast Support

The goal for these podcasts will be both to highlight research occurring on campus and inform and encourage undergraduate students to participate in research opportunities and mentorship. If applying to one of these positions, you may send an example of your work (optional). These positions are volunteer roles.

We need support with all parts of the podcast. This includes:

  • Audio editing and sound mixing
  • Videography and video editing (if the podcast is filmed)
  • Script writing and content planning
  • Guest outreach and scheduling
  • Show notes and episode descriptions
  • Hosting or co-hosting
  • Transcription and accessibility support
  • Technical setup and troubleshooting
  • Research and fact-checking
